The Aqualizer is a splint designed to be used temporarily to equalize the tension between the left side and the right sides of the jaw. Most researchers have found that it is the imbalance between the muscles which leads to the jaw tracking incorrectly and eventually pain. When the water-filled cushions (of the Aqualizer) are placed between the back teeth, they "float" the jaw and allow the differences between the two sides to be equalized by the water they displace. The muscles rest in this position and during this rest phase they are able to more fully recover.

This splint also provides a quick test of whether the problems you are having are centered in the jaw joints (and especially in the muscles which provide proper function) and will give you a very good sense whether the more specific muscle therapies I utilize will give you the extended relief you are looking for.
